Welcome to Forth
Forth Village is situated near Lanark, Scotland on the A706. It is twinned with Yvetot and Hemmingen and stands 1000 feet above sea level, with a population of just under 3000.
| Pedestrian Crossing
The Forth and District Initiative group who having campaigned for some time to have a pedestrian crossing on the Forth Main Street finally had their wish come true on February 10th 2005.
It totally transforms this part of the village and should be a lot safer for pedestrians crossing this busy main road.

Windfarm
What has been hailed as the largest onshore wind farm to be constructed in Britain
is the Scottish Power scheme built at Blacklaw, near Climpy, Forth in Lanarkshire.
The 45 giant turbines are now operational and the site was opened officially by
Nicol Stevens MSP on 12th Jan 2006.

The First Open Day at Blacklaw Windfarm
This took place on a wet and damp Saturday on 26th August 2006, was a very successful event attracting over 4,500 visitors from
all over the area.
The visitors were taken on bus trips to one of the turbines and were given a detailed
description of the work carried out on the site, along with facts and figures about the output of these giant 300 ft turbines.
The open day was part of the British Wind Energy Association Weekend.
Over £70,000 from the windfarm will be distributed to local projects in the area. In the village of Forth this amounts to £27,000 for a new playpark, £2,900 for a disabled toilet to be built at The British Legion in Manse Road, £2,500 for the Breast Care Shop improvements, £2,200 for equipment for a palliative care facility in Forth.
