Local Events

No local events are planned for this decade. Check back in 2017 for any events planned for next decade. Don't get your hopes up though, as by that time we'll all be too old and tired to plan anything.

40mph......Thank You

We now have a nice electronic sign at either end of the village to remind drivers that they are entering a 40mph limit. You get a nice Thank You if you stick to the speed limit and a Slow Down if you don't ( so I'm told ). Shame the one at the north end of the village partially obscures two other signs.

New Substation

Work has started preparing the area for the new Electricity Substation along the Leadhills Road. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2009.

Salt Depot

The Salt Depot is no more at it's present location. It's being shifted along the road a bit. I always thought it was quite handy where it was.

Old Railway Bridge

The Old Railway Bridge across the Elvan Water to the west of the village has now been demolished and replaced with.......nothing, so if you want to do a nice circular walk take your wellies.

LOCAL EDITOR

Welcome to the Elvanfoot and Crawford website.

If you have any local news or events or anything else which deserves a mention let me know.

The Crawford pages are under construction and can be accessed from the Local Life Menu on the left. More stuff
will appear on it as and when I get the time to do it. I'm enjoying the good weather too much and don't get to spend much time at the computer.

The local editor for Elvanfoot is Gregor so, please send him your news and views

New Railway Hub at Elvanfoot ?

There are rumours that Elvanfoot is being considered as a location for a new 'railway hub' which would be used for the transportation of coal from Scottish mining sites to power stations further south. No details of exact location or operation of a site like this are available but it is expected it would be similar to the facility at Ravenstruther and would involve many lorry loads of coal being transported through the village to be loaded onto trains. If you want to know more about this please contact this site using the link above.
